Liver Patients International

LPI is a global umbrella organization representing liver patient groups and working alongside stakeholders who are committed to improving the lives of people affected by liver disease. Our vision is that every individual impacted by liver disease—regardless of geography—receives timely diagnosis, appropriate treatment, a high quality of life, and a seat at the table in healthcare decisions.

MASLD/MASH is a liver condition with growing prevalence and profound consequences. As such, it is a major priority for us. Through our involvement in GRIPonMASH, we aim to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and ensure the lived experiences of patients inform research, policy, and clinical practice.

LPI board member José Willemse plays a leading role in the project, actively contributing to patient-centered approaches and engagement strategies. She is supported by Robert Mitchell-Thain, Chair and fellow board member, who collaborates closely with her throughout the project.

Together, we are committed to ensuring that the patient perspective remains central in the global response to MASLD/MASH.
