General University Hospital in Prague

The General University Hospital in Prague (VFN) is a major health care facility and one of the largest hospitals in the Czech Republic. VFN provides basic, specialized and highly specialized medical, nursing, outpatient and diagnostic care for children and adults in all basic fields. It also provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care, including technologically demanding preparations of cytostatics or sterile medicines.

In addition to providing health care, the VFN is the main teaching base of the 1st Faculty of Medicine of Charles University in Prague and one of the most important scientific institutions in the field of therapeutic and diagnostic methods in the Czech Republic. The hospital has the longest tradition of academic medicine in the Czech Republic and from its foundation in 1790 to the present it has been the largest medical research centre in the Czech Republic.
